Ten teams are competing in this season's F1 championship, with two drivers each. We have split the teams into four groups of different strengths. Groups A and B consist of two teams each, Group C of four teams and Group D of two. You must pick a team of 6 drivers - one from each of groups A, B and D, and three from group C.
This may sound easy, however, it's not quite that simple. You can't choose two drivers from the same
team, and this game is more about consistency than racking up championship points.
In each Grand Prix, each driver is given a score depending on how they finished. The winning driver will receive
20 points, 2nd place will receive 19 points, 3rd place gets 18 points, and so on, down to the last driver who
will receive 1 point. Any driver who fails to qualify for the race, or is disqualified, scores zero points.
So, in this game, a driver who finishes in the middle order in most races will do better than a hot-head who
wins some Grand Prix but crashes out at the first corner in others.
Formula One racing is also unpredictable - there are often changes in team personnel during the course of the
season. This game is also about luck, since if your chosen driver is
replaced by another, either permanently or temporarily, the new driver is now responsible for earning your points. So
you'd best hope that the replacement is up to the job!
If one of your drivers isn't pulling their weight, you can replace them with another driver from the same group. You can make up to 3 pit-stops (driver changes) during
the season - but just as a real-life pit-stop costs time, each Quo F1 pit-stop will cost you 10 points, so you will need to work out if
it's worth that sacrifice...
